I am a magpie. I have gathered stones and beads and sea shells since I was small. It started with beach pebbles - the smooth, egg shaped ones. Materials are my inspiration. When I find a fascinating piece, a shell, an amulet or an interesting carving, I take it home and, sometimes it lies around for a long time until I find the perfect match for it. Making a necklace or a bracelet can be a long process. It would be very difficult to buy ingredients for one all at once. I could put together something, of course, but the really interesting ones started years ago, maybe in a street market in China or a tribal village in the Golden Triangle or maybe at a jumble sale in an English country village or maybe, just maybe, in my Mum's button box.
